This meta will be an allowed list meta, but with a rather long list of Pokémon being approved. Below is a search string for the meta, followed by the infographic that explains what the search string will pull up that isn’t allowed. Some Pokémon only have one regional form approved, and a few are allowed as shadows only. Below the infographic will be a text list of the allowed Pokémon if you prefer to browse it that way.

Developer Notes

After last month’s meta with just a list of things banned, this month we have a meta that is purely a list of allowed Pokémon! We were feeling inspired by a recent game involving lots of blocks and building things, so we decided to take a list of Pokémon from that game and see where that would lead us.

The first thing we did was add in the shadow forms and most of the regional forms to start with the largest list. Then we had to throw a few out like Empoleon, Altaria, and Bastiodon that just tend to be everywhere. Also, while we started with a list for inspiration, we placed priority on making a meta we thought would be enjoyable to play, rather than strictly adhering to a list that wasn’t originally designed for PvP. We checked for accessibility, specifically for the legendary Pokémon and ended up restricting four of them to their shadow forms only.

After a debate between British and American spellings for “cosy” and pondering the infographic for a while, we decided to write a search string to let trainers search their storage for approved Pokémon, and base the infographic on the changes to that search string. So have a cosy seat in a nice comfortable place, and enjoy playing this new meta with us!

Most of the first stage Pokémon aren’t on the list. Excadrill, Fraxure, and Haxorus are all on the list.
